This private house in St Margarethen is located next to the roman stone quarry in Sankt Margarethen. The house overlooks the valley of Sankt Margarethen. The client brief called for a minimal residence with quality finishes, generous living spaces, a study, car port and a swimming pool.
The house has an expansive master suite with bedroom, sitting room and private bath occupies the left part of the house. The part on the right side of the main entrance, which contains the main living areas and the atelier space behind a spacious living room. This part is meant to function as an open space. Where the artist can have guests and hold meetings or expositions.
The building’s structure is made of in-situ concrete. The visible concrete has been sanded and left untreated so it can age and create a patina to merge with the natural surroundings. All exterior door and window frames are generous in size and made of blackened steel. The main materials inside include oak wooden floors, oak doors and fittings, and raw concrete walls.
